Major Fail 3 weeks out-Advice please?

Recommended Posts

Hi all. Will keep this short. 3 weeks out and was progressing to veggies today. Had some coconut Water and was making kale chips for later in the week. Must have drank the Water too quick. After cooking the chips, I ate about three to see how they were, bc I'd never made them before. Almost immediately I felt queasy.

Now I've been spitting up but can't barf (hiatal hernia repair maybe why?) and my chest hurts. Feel like I have liquid way up to my jaw. I definetly just thoughtlessly did something I used to do when I cooked per-sleeve. I feel absolutely idiotic now and I'm horrified about this resulting in a leak. I feel like I messed up really early on here--if this is the feeling people get when they eat too much, it's the first I've read of someone being dumb enough to get it this early into their experience.

Any words do advice? Def learned a lesson. Not looking for coddling but also please don't beat me up! :/

FYI, The kale chips are just kale in the oven with seasoning. Nothing crazy fattening.

I get that if I eat too fast or too much. It usually leads to vomitting for me but I also find that walking around helps it go away. It is the worst feeling but does go away.

I think you will be fine :-) As for the full feeling it will go away eventualy. I still get the feeling and I am almost 2 months out. Just make sure when you start on puree that you eat it slow and chew chew chew.

Oh I forgot to mention, wait at least 30 minutes after drinking to eat and 30 minutes to an 1 hour after eating to drink something. I learned that the hard way lol To me its like if you drink with food the drink will go to the bottom of sleeve and the food comes up to your throat and feels horrible.

Thanks Leann! I think this is exactly what happened. I drank coconut Water too fast then popped three little kale leaves. It does feel horrible! Gosh I can't wait for it to pass.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
