Only four days after my surgery my surgeon's team had me begin exercising. I still didn't feel so great so I waited until the fifth day and did 15 minutes on the treadmill at 2.5mph. Nothing strenuous (obviously!) but it made me feel a lot better. I am a little over five weeks out and up to 30 minutes at 3.0mph four times a week. Still nothing strenuous, but am slowly increasing speed/duration. Hope you feel better very soon!

The gas was horrible for me. It lasted about a week for me. When I felt it I would walk and it helped me out as far as moving it along. It will get better. Im two months out. I dont regret doing this for one minute!

I have become a walking maniac! Lol. I just sent my husband to buy me some gas x strips. Hopefully they help. I'll take anything at this point! :) like you, I don't regret it either. I can already tell I'm shedding inches even though the scale says otherwise (I'm still swollen). Thanks for the motivational words!

Wow! I can't begin to imagine how I would feel walking that fast right now. That's awesome! Keep it up!

So have any of you got a second floor you're living on? I'm looking at post op and hoping I can go back upstairs to my room when I get back from the hospital, but if I have to walk a lot and stairs are difficult I may have to sleep downstairs.

Hey guys! I need some motivation' date=' encouragement, and/or tips. I had my surgery this past Thursday so I'm 3 days post op. I'm having horrible stomach pains and my back is starting to hurt. I don't know if my stomach pains are coming from my swollen stomach, the incisions, or trapped gas. Anyone been through the same road and willing to offer some advice? I'm taking my liquid pain meds but nothing seems to work. :/[/quote']

I am very positive it's gas I had the same issue the only think I can recommend is walk walk walk and you will be fine

Stairs are actually really good. My surgeon told me if I didn't feel good walking a lot to go up and down the stairs, extremely helpful with gas! Slow of course but felt good right after surgery, also keeps the legs moving so less risk of blood clots.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
