Immediately after surgery, I felt great! Never used the pain meds that were sent home with me! About 2 weeks after surgery I began having extreme pain in my lower left abdomen. My surgeon hospitalized me at my follow up visit to do a Catscan. They say the Catscan was normal and I, "probably pulled a muscle." I'm now 4 weeks out from surgery and am still in severe pain. It's not a constant pain, but the action of standing, sitting, laying down, sitting up, bending over (I try not to do this at all because its the worst), even squating (TMI warning) to use the potty is super painful. Has anyone else had this experience? If so, how long did the pain last?

I had the exact pain, I went to work 2 weeks after surgery and now the pain has finally gone. It was aggravated by standing at work. I had surgery on dec 26 and have lost about 23 pounds. The pain was horrible!! I hope yours gets better!!

Is it focused right under one of your incisions? I have a pain under my largest one. In fact, it's kind of a hard lump, which the doc said was normal.

It's pretty normal, I hate to say it but it happens to most of us. Take care it will go away.

Knowing that its normal from other sleevers is a relief in and of itself :-)

Thanks for sharing your experiences!

Yes I think its normal also. I felt great except for the largest incision (the one they use to extract the cut off stomach) it felt like I had done 100 situps. Just in that one spot. I hurt went I changed from siting to standing. It really hurt when I bent over. And to have a bowel movement was no fun. The good news is that after about a week the pain went away. i belive you just have to ''work it out".

It's been about 2 1/2 weeks, I'm SO ready for that to go away! Hahaha! It's intense, super intense. I'm hoping to just wake up one day and magically feel well :-)

It took a good three weeks for me to move like normal and not feel pain. My hubby had to help me put on my sucks and undies and wash my legs and feet in the shower. I am a little over five weeks po and it still is a bit uncomfortable to pick stuff off the floor. I think this is all normal.

They still have me wearing the abdominal binder daily which I think has helped me.

Gravity of our big tummys! I've had several abdominal surgeries so I sort of know what to expect and how to walk stooped over and carry my belly lol

YES! I also found that pressing a pillow against mine as I was getting up from a seated position helped alot.

Ellie, I'm so sorry and can completely relate! We have a recliner that I can slide in to, recline, put on my socks and shoes, and sit back up! LOL. I also have found a grabber to be helpful ;-)

And JuliannaJ, I'm tempted to ask for something similar! I've found that if I put pressure in that particular area, I can manage the pain!

Having reactions to most pain more is a bummer in these situations! :-)

Hugging a pillow there when I sneeze really helps the pain. On my first night in the hospital, I had hiccups, and they were awful. The only way I could stop them was hugging the pillow and holding my breath.

I feel the same way, the largest incision is the one that is bothering me as well. Everything you describe is identical to how I feel, esp bending down hurts. Weird too coz I used to lay on my right side, now that hurts my stomach... I feel like something is pulling and I have to go back to laying on my left side. Im using the abdominal binder and Tylenol chewable once in awhile it helps a little bit and then pain again. Hopefully it will go away soon, it's been 11 days since surgery ;(

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
