Hi,

Could anyone tell me what all goes on when you meet with the psychologist Dr.? I have my evaluation on Dec. 8th just curious what will go on. Thanks :)

Super easy. They ask you about your dieting history, your life in general, meds you are on, etc. Its hard to be denied. An example of a denial would be someone who was unemployed using their life savings for example. That was the only denial my Doctor told me about. They don't pry too much, they just want to know you have tried everything possible to lose the weight.

Mine was for surgery in CO. First, I had to take three written tests. A personality profile and then two different ones on how I would handle pain while in the hospital (like, would I yell at the nurse, would I ask for help, etc.) It was ALL a no-brainer. Then, the psychologist interviewed me for about an hour. Chat about previous diets, why I want the surgery, what my expectations were. That sort of thing. It was nothing! It's ALL good! They are ruling out addiction to substances (other than food), bi-polar disorder/schizophrenia, etc. Even if you have those issues, they will just make sure you get the right treatment before surgery...it's all to help you be the most successful. Not to worry! Good luck. You will LOVE your band. Using it like a tool, which it is meant to be, you will be SO happy to have it!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
