How frequently do you have bowel movements? I have them every couple of days sometimes longer and I wondered if this was normal or if I have a Fiber problem. Any advice would be great

Well, I'm 4 weeks post op and the first 3 weeks I was on full liquids. Immediately post op, I didn't go at all, due to pain meds, etc....but for the remainder of the 3 weeks it was liquid in and liquid out. I would go once a day and it was almost like clockwork at 10:30 AM every morning.

This last week I started on soft foods and I don't think I've gone since Tuesday. I did have a small one this afternoon but that was forced and I'm convinced there has to be more! I'm going to give it until tomorrow before I take something that may improve the flow!

I'm 11 weeks post op. I used to be really regular, like twice a day. You could set your watch too it in the morning :P

Every few days now.

Lol, the other. Prune juice I just started today so hopefully I'll get lucky tomorrow! Prune juice is high in calories though, 180 for 8oz, so maybe prune juice once a week

Yeah, if things aren't moving I have a packet of seedless prunes in the fridge. I have 50 grams (like 6 or so prunes) at night. I think that's about 92 cals.

I'm five months out and this is definitely an issue that I'm dealing with. It's due to the high Protein, low carb diet. We're not taking in a lot of fiber and it takes its toll. I would suggest adding some kind of fiber (I take Benefiber 2-3 times a week) to help the process along. You don't want to rely on laxatives or stool softeners because I think this is a long term issue. Eventually when you can add more veggies and good grains into your diet, it should get better. Hang in there!

I have struggled with this since surgery. I was told to use Benefiber but its not available in my area (manufacturer recall). I gather others have been able to find it where they live? Since I couldn't find that I have been doing Miralax (one half cap full each day). But, I was told that's not a good long term solution since your bowels can get lazy. I don't think I'm there yet because its still..ahem...an effort to go. I'm 8 weeks post op on Monday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
