Where do you men shop for regular sizes?

Recommended Posts

I was a big Goodwill shopper for the first year. My sizes were changing so often, I hated spending $40 for a pair of jeans that was only going to fit me for a couple months. Same thing with shirts. I started at a XXL shirt and am now in Medium. From 40/42 waist to 32. I hated wearing baggy clothes and was elated to wear clothes that fit. $6 - $8 for a nice pair of Levi's and $4 for a nice shirt.

Annnnd ... you are also helping out an institution that does some good. Many may question that, but that is not a topic for discussion here. I donate my clothes back and buy some new(used) ones. I look and feel great and it works for me.

Now that my size has somewhat stabilized, I shop the department stores like Alex does.

Castiel ... oye!

Even past 45 ...

Better look out. If you get too close to me I might take a swipe at you with my cane!

I'm pre op but buy my jeans at The Buckle. I can't wait to be able to go to the mall and not have one specific store I have to shop at for shirts like I do now.

Isn't that awesome? When I bought my jeans at Walmart a few weeks ago, I couldn't believe how cheap the price was compared to Casual Male.

Although I hate CM, and have vowed to never shop there again, I went into one this weekend and returned a few XMas presents that were far too large...they were very helpful, and I actually walked out with a pair of 42-32 pants. I'm not a 42, but I will be soon. :)

I cut up my Casual Male rewards card the other day. Man I've had that thing a while. I did go in there one last time and the lady stopped me and said "you know this is a big mans shop don't you?". I guess I better not come back then.

Kohls, Macy's, Younkers, Nike, Under Armour oh and I'm still a big fan of thrift shops. I have been amazed at some of the great quality name brand items I find there.

Agree with the above. I am still buying my clothes at value village just because it is more economical. I guess once a thrifty person always a thrifty person. I really do not see myself throwing around money at the mall. It is not me.

I bought some pants, and two casual shirts, at Bjs yesterday. I'm down to a 44, so selection wasn't great, but I could find pants with just a little searching, no problem, even with a 32 inseam. Looks like most of their pants go up to 42 waist, so I'll be able to find more soon. :)

So nice to pay $15 for a decent shirt!!!! Even the pants were like $20 and a name I recognized!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
