I am almost 2 weeks post op (Monday) and I just feel so thirsty and just get the urge to just chug my whole Water bottle down! I can't take it, it's so frustrating. Can I ever chug again? I know this may sound crazy but I feel so miserable with all these liquids and medicines and I still don't feel like I know how/when to eat. Any suggestions? Can I ever drink something normally and not in sips?

I struggled a lot with thirst after surgery. I found that Popsicles helped the thirst. Six months out and I can drink a lot more, still no chugging:)

I am going into my third week post-op and I don't really sip anymore. I take something close to a normal swallow-but certainly not a chug.

I've found the same. I also find that I can pretty easily drink liquids. I have to pause once in a while when feeling full, but I certainly can drink much, much more than 4oz in 15 minutes, which was my original target goal.

. I did not, I don't know why but I haven't struggled much with this surgery at all, I just remembered the instructions given before the surgery to Sip, sip, sip, sip, having to wait was a tad bit annoying, but I found if I find something to do, set my timer and when it rings I can drink.

Ok so I can't chug... That's horrible.. Ill just have to be patient. I have noticed that I can drink a little more than I was able to the first week. Thanks for all of the responses!

You should be fine because the nutritionists always say that it's all up to what your body cn handle.

I can take about 3 normal size swallows with no problems, too. I'm 9 days out.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
