Hi everyone,

I'm scheduled for a lap-band seminar at 5:00 P.M. tomorrow evening. It's part of my research. I know in my heart I'm going to do this (hopefully before the end of 2006), but I still want to know everything about it; I don't want any surprises. The same questions are probably asked a million times and in reading the posts, I'm sure some of my questions will be answered, but I still want to ask them & thank you for humoring me.

1. I read that there is a doctor who prescribes diet pills after surgery, during the pre-fill stage. Sounds like a good idea, any other doctors doing that?

2. What causes band slippage? Can it be caused by activity/exercise, or is it generally caused by eating incorrectly?

3. Does slippage cause the band to be tighter or looser? What if it slips while on vacation, can a person live with it for a couple of weeks, or is it something that requires immediate attention?

4. Vitamins will be required for the rest of my life and I plan to take liquid vitamins. Is there a particular vitamin/mineral deficiency that is common to Bandits? Should I be extra diligent about Iron or B12, for example.

5. You're supposed to give up tea, coffee, and soda for a while, but is it okay to drink flavored water? I particularly like Fruit-2-O.

That's all I can think of for now.

Thank you for lending an ear,

Pixcess

Great questions, I'm going to my seminar on Saturday. I would like to add a few more questions to your list:

6. Can you avoid PBing by eating slow and small bites?

7. Can you PB in private? I am not telling people about my surgery and am afraid I will PB in front of a bunch of people without any warning.

8. And the big questions to all you lap band people, Would you do it again if you had the choice?

I'm so excited about the fact that the Lap Band has worked for so many people in this forum and so I'm really hoping it will work for me.

Hey Pixcess and Sunshine,Welcome to the forum and hope soon to lapbanding. You will get all your questions ans. at the seminar but I will tell you from my experience the best I can.

Diet Pills---Never want to see another one, did'nt need them.

Slippage--My doctor says his bands don't slip, don't know for sure

Tea,coffee,soda---I gave up soda but have not been told that I had to give up my coffee and tea. Have always had both.

Vitiams- I do a multi vitiam every day. I am sure my regular MD would let me know if she thought I needed an Iron tablet and no I don't do B-12.

Avoid PB---Have been banded almost seven months and never pb'd. I don't eat things that I have a doubt about. You are correct eat slow, small bites and chew very well.

Private PB---I suppose you could if you were at home or where you could get to a bathroom.

And last but not least yes I would do this again in a heartbeat. 17 pounds from goal. The best to you both.:)

Thank you Sallyjo. It seems I just read and read about all the problems on this board and it kinda scares me. I keep thinking that these problems won't happen to me. PBing scares me to death, mainly because I work in a high profile job and am scared that I will upchuck right in front of my department while I'm giving a meeting or something. So I'm nervous about that. Plus, my DH is against any type of WLS and tells me all the time he will take me fat, he still loves me no matter what I weigh, and if I am pbing, I know I will never hear the end of it from him.

The thing my DH doesn't realize is I'm doing this for ME and not him or anyone else. I need to love myself and feel good about myself. I just wanted to know from all the Lap Band guys & gals, even with all the complications they come across, is it worth it. You answered my questions - thank you - I guess I really just need to know that I'm doing the right thing. And I think I am.....

It means productive burb - but its the same as spitting up or throwing up. But not quite as throwing up because you don't have the stomach acid.

Oh, thanks for your reply, Sunshine. That's quite different than some of the terms that came to mind (peanut butter, for instance) when I was trying to figure it out.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
