Nausea and being tired -- 3 weeks post op

Recommended Posts

Hi

Can someone tell me if they experienced nausea and being tired 3 weeks post op? I don't feel quite right sometimes and other times I feel fine. The nausea today came after waking up at 10 and drinking my Protein drink. Then I waited and took my medicines. Now I'm feeling sick and really tired.

Why does this happen? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is happening to me also. My doctor told me to only drink half the shake in the morning. So now I get up and drink a whole cup of tea with milk and then I drink half my shake. I am drinking smaller amounts thru out the day. I have been feeling better. Today I also had 2oz of cream of wheat after the tea.

I am feeling that as I am typing right now. At first I thought it was because I hadn't ate anything yet so I was going to try some yogurt but as soon as I took a little bite, I felt like I was going to puke. So I quit eating that. Idk what else to do so I'm going to call my doctor asap

I had that around three weeks. It's much better now, at 8 weeks. Weeks 3-6 were pretty rough, with the nausea and lack of appetite. Hang in there !

I'm feeling that way right now at 3weeks. I think part of it is the heartburn. Good to know it gets better.

I have a difficult time with nausea in the morning. Usually it seems to coincide whether I take my Vitamins and meds before I eat or after. I think when I take them after I eat, then it is a little better. Still monitoring this. I'm definitely not enjoying anything that I eat. Today I had a lean cuisine meal. I actually ate all of it, not at one time but eventually I did finish it. I had to run an errand while I took a break from eating it. I remember thinking as I was headed back home "darn, I've got to try and finish eating that thing." (like making a child do something that don't want to do) I made myself do it, because I'm not eating anything really. Still have problems getting protein/fluid amounts in. I know I have a vit D deficiency - so I'm getting a little scared about the whole lack of eating thing right now. I also hate vomiting so, that's got me spooked too about eating. I keep hearing "it gets better" and I hold on to those thoughts as best I can. Sore joints, muscles, back - my whole body feels foreign to me right now. Oh yeah, and I don't seem to like the taste of any food at this point.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
