Hi! I had surgery on 12/11, and I'm 35 pounds down from my highest this past fall. (I really feel like this is pretty slow.) I'm still starting the day with a Protein Shake most mornings, and I've tolerated food pretty well, though, obviously, at much smaller quantities. I'm definitely finding that some things I really liked before are not sitting well. (Eggs, some salad dressings) I'm getting about 800 calories a day on average, tracking everything with myfitnesspal.com I'm doing a lot of chicken and fish, and so far, Protein has not been a big problem.

I'm struggling to get the gym, though. I go for a week, then lag for a couple of days, and so on. How about you?

Hello my surgery was also on 12-12-12. Best thing I ever did. Since the start I've lost a total of 44lbs. I've been sticking to the Dr. and nutritionalist recommedations like glue. I'm able to eat one egg, and the only real issue is with the 1% milk but mild always was a bit of an issue even before the surgery. I like my Premier Protein Chocloate shakes from costco and the Premier Protein Peanut Butter bars as well. My tastes have changes some but all in all I'm able to get my Protein and liquid in with the help of sugar free popsicles.

Currently I'm doing my treadmill 3 days a week 1 mile a day. Also, walk my dog daily so that helps as well. Keep in touch and best to you all on our new journey to healthy.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
