DreamsOfSkinny 53 Posted January 25, 2013 So I have surgery on Tuesday and just found out my MIL cannot watch our toddler while hubby is at night classes for the first few days. I'm now trying to find a babysitter. I want to know how other moms did it. Did you have help with your baby? Did you watch them on your own? How did you do it? Thanks! ShrinkyDinkMe22 376 Posted January 25, 2013 How old is your little one and are they fairly independent? My almost 3 year old I had no problems with post op (sleeved 12/10/12). But she's in a toddler bed, potty trained and can climb up into her booster at the kitchen table. So honestly I didn't really have to pick her up much at all. I also only had one incision so I didn't have too much pain. If yours still needs to be picked up a lot then you might want to get someone to help. Just my opinion. Losingitforgood! 50 Posted January 25, 2013 Check around your neighborhood and see if there is a 11-12 year old that would be willing to come entertain your toddler for a while. You will be there to supervise- so that is why I suggest someone this age. You will need help with lifting and carrying, and maybe getting him/her to bed. Good Luck finding someone!!! mommyradd 115 Posted January 25, 2013 I have 2 little ones in diapers, and I was sleeved in November. I had to change diapers, but did it on the couch because I didn't want to lift them on the changing table. Almost every other mommy task that I had to do was no different than before surgery. Be sure to rest and not lift heavy things. Also, if there are toys all over, leave them alone, and dad can help baby clean when he gets home. I did bend a lot to clean up after the kids, and it made my incision sore. If you must get help, try CARE (online). I interviewed several people and found two good sitters for date nights. Good luck. Keepgoing247 116 Posted January 25, 2013 My toddler was 23 months when I got my sleeve. My mother in law watched him while my husband and I were sleeved in Tijuana. From the moment we got back, I have been able to do everything with him with no problems. I was even up for cooking and cleaning. Good luck, it will all work out!! amitch17 17 Posted January 25, 2013 Thanks for this post! My son will be 23 months when I hope to get my sleeve and my daughter will be 3 months. My fiancé will be taking a week or so off of work to help out but hopefully won't need to take any more.
DreamsOfSkinny 53 Posted January 26, 2013 Thanks for this post! My son will be 23 months when I hope to get my sleeve and my daughter will be 3 months. My fiancé will be taking a week or so off of work to help out but hopefully won't need to take any more. That's great. I'll actually need someone to watch her while I'm in the hospital Tuesday night and hubby's in class (about 4 hrs) and then probably Wed-Thurs. for 4 hrs each day. Right now luckily I'm off of work on medical leave but had my gallbladder out and was too sore to move around much for a week with her (and that was 6 months ago). She's now 26 months and does a lot for herself so honestly think I can handle it past the first few days.
