queenp 2 Posted January 25, 2013 Well I went from band to sleeve. The band didn't work for me only loss 20lbs over 5 yrs.Decided I wanted it out and my Dr suggested the sleeve.I was sleeved 12/31 and have lost only 12.5lbs.I do feel like I am doing what I should be doing ,but I have been stuck at 186.7 for about a week and on this site I read so many great losses till I feel like a loser all over again.I was praying the sleeve would work for me.especially with a 2nd surgery .I thought it would be a win win ,can't get much in that mean you gotta lose.I keep hearing be patient it will happen, but will it happen for me.just felt like venting today
BroadwayBaby 19 Posted January 25, 2013 You are probably just in the 3 week stall - look it up here - most everyone has a period of time around 3 weeks after surgery where their weight just stands till even if they are doing the right thing. From what I've read it can be moreso for someone who goes from band to sleeve. Keep doing what you are supposed to and the weight will start to come off again! 2 PdxMan and ProudGrammy reacted to this
Losingitforgood! 50 Posted January 25, 2013 I think your loss of 12.5 lbs is great. You are starting out at a lower weight-so your loss is going to be slower. Make sure you follow the rules- Protein first, no carbs, 64 oz Water daily, exercise ect. Your sleeve will not fail you!!! Just give it some time and have a little patience. 3 ProudGrammy, Frank69 and PdxMan reacted to this
NancyDec20 212 Posted January 25, 2013 yes exercise will be a key factor.. and true you are starting at a lower wt than most of us here.. so it will be slower for you.. but keep up the good work..and welcome to sleeveland. Ive not hit a stall yet.. but im sure that is coming and that will be normal.. so ive been reading alot here and sorta know what to expect and what is semi normal... so it helps hearing about everyones experiences.. but keep up the Protein thats so important.and the fluids.. it will come off.. even my doc says so.. lol 1 PdxMan reacted to this
mysunflower621 69 Posted January 25, 2013 I feel the same way you do.. I'm 10 weeks out, stuck at only a 30 lb loss and haven't lost anything in 2 weeks and I'm following and doing everything I should 100% and nothing.. 2 weeks now, nothing... I have PCOS which doesn't help, but gosh I did better on other diet programs losing 70 lbs on one and 55 on another before I hit a stall... I can lose, I can't maintain.. but if I can't even lose on this what was it for?? So frustrating.. I see everyone losing a great amount of weight too and I feel like this isn't working for me. Granted, I have a complication from the surgery that doesn't allow me to exercise at all yet, but still!!! Hang in there, I hope it gets better for you, I'm sure it will but I have heard about the week 3 stall.. I didn't have it, but many do! Good luck!
PdxMan 4,292 Posted January 25, 2013 It is just so unfair to yourself to compare to others. While you may not think so, you and your history are completely unique. As is said, get rid of your scale. It lies to you. It isn't measuring what you want it to. Are you looking to lose weight or fat? What does the scale measure? I weighed once a month and never had to deal with any anxiety with what the scale said. I highly recommend everyone do the same. As long as you follow the guidelines, you will lose. You just have to know that over time, if you consume fewer calories than you burn, loss will occur, both fat and muscle, so be sure to stay with the Protein. Also know that stalls will occur and it is completely normal. Even desired, if you think about it. Do you really want a body that doesn't have the ability to go into starvation mode and look out for itself? I'm happy to know that my body responds exactly as it is supposed to in these kind of events. Toss the scale. 2 joatsaint and danyelleb reacted to this

joatsaint 2,814 Posted January 25, 2013 I've read those, "I lost 60 lbs in 2 months" posts and feel like I'm way behind on the weight loss curve as you do. But I keep telling myself that as long as the weight keeps coming off, it's a good thing and just be patient. Everyone's body reacts differently when losing weight and is dependent on your calorie intake and your exercise habits. For all we know, these guys losing tremendous amounts of weight per month are eating 1/2 a Pop-Tart and are living on the treadmill 24/7. 1 DivaNurse reacted to this
920amy 409 Posted January 25, 2013 My scale is a professional liar. It should play poker instead of trying to tell me how I 'rate'. I was frustrated with my dial scale, when I was around 2 months I was in a long stall for about 2 weeks. My dial scale would say I was 222 one day and 214 the next. I realized that (like me) it was crabby when it was cold outside, so it would tell me I weighed more on cold days and less on warmer days. So after 2 weeks of knowing I weighed something between 214 and 222, I went on a Quest for a NEW scale! I decided I was going to get a digital one! I took my husband with me and we looked at an entire aisle and a half of scales at Target. My husband was less thrilled than I was by this adventure. I couldn't decide on a glass one with sleek metal feet, on 'The Biggest Loser' scale, on a weight watchers one...I finally narrowed my choice to the scales that not ONLY measure your weight, but also tell you your percentage of fat, Water, muscle and bone mass. This way I thought I could figure out if I was dehydrates, and also be able to better gauge my fat content besides fretting over BMI. I excitedly chose one for 49.95. It was more than wanted to spend on a scale, BUT it was going to tell me all KINDS of information, measure my weight in .2 increments, AND I could even save up to 8 'profiles' on my scale so other people could use it!! I was so excited! I got home, popped in the batteries, read the instruction manual (I never had a scale with an instruction manual before!!) I carefully entered in my height, my age, and gender. I saved my profile and could HARDLY sleep knowing that the next morning when I weighed, I would have a WEALTH of information to better guage my weight by. The next morning, I woke up, peed (you know you all pee before weighing!), took off my socks and stepped on my brand new scale!!..!!..I waited...216.4 it read. Then, it started with my percentage of fat 53% (53%?!?! Is that even possible?!!?) water 47% (so I'm all fat and water..!?) muscle 8% (What The?!!?) and bone mass 3% (3%?! I AM NOT A WALKING Jello BLOB!!!) I was mad! I am mad! According to my scale, as the months have gone on, I have gained .2% of bone, and lost 1% of fat...the point is, these scales, these measuring devices, even BMI uses a set measurement made by some crazy scientist by which to make people compare themselves to others. If you don't fit exactly into their little ratios, you are given a label 'fat' 'obese' 'slim' 'underweight'. We need to STOP labelling ourselves, and worry about how we feel. Do you feel good? Do you feel like you've lost weight? Are your pants looser? I am still a slave every morning to the dumb thing that tells me I am growing bone...albiet .2 percent at a time...but I also guage my clothes, the compliments I get in a day, the way I look compared to old pictures, and you know what? I know this surgery was worth it, and I know I will prevail, even if I am just fat and water... 1 No game reacted to this
Richard Foor 655 Posted January 25, 2013 It's not a race it's a journey. You are at 187 your not likely to lose as fast as someone who is over 300 pounds like myself. You say you lost almost 13 lbs in a month, when you had only lost 20 pounds in 5 years on the band, sounds like your doing much better. Don't get discouraged but keep going and when you get to goal you'll look back at it and be happy. Good Luck. 1 bigtigger1010 reacted to this
