Sleeve on feb 6th(nervous and scared to death)

Recommended Posts

I'm getting my surgery done on 6th at 8am and like all of you, I'm worried and nervous too. I have 2 kids. 5 years and 18 months and I'm told that I can't carry my children for a few months because of the stitches. It's a difficult thing ... Anyone else have a similar problem?

I'm also worried about the pre-op diet. I'm used to eating such horrible fatty foods and to literally starve for 7 days prior to surgery is scary.

yes we all know about the dreaded pre op diet.. its very hard im not gonna lie.. but you need to be on it to shrink your liver so that the surgery will be easier for the surgeon. and after wards.. you wont give a crap about food lol.. sorta nice that way.. my prob now is.. I have to eat? Im not hungry. you will be fine after a few weeks.. then you will be able to pick up the kiddos.. doesnt mean you have to stop hugging them or let them sit on your lap but to be careful of the incisions.. hug them sitting down or hug them sitting next to you.. it will be all good.. you are making yourself more healthy for them.. to keep up with them.. to live longer and be medication free.. I was so scared.. and nervous. then afterwards.. I was relieved everything was ok.. I was ok... and just remember.. Protein protein protein.. fluids fluids fluids.. walk walk walk.. I was sleeved dec 20th..and not one day has passed that I have not regretted doing this.. ive lost 40lbs and I have 103 more to go..and im well on my way.. to a new me.. Im getting a do over and im not going to mess this up for anything.. its my 2nd chance.. and im gonna take it by the horns and run with it.. you will be great.. everyone is nervous.. only natural.. best of luck to you and keep us all posted here.

I'm two weeks out yesterday had my surgery on the 10th. I started my presurgery diet two weeks before. It was a liver shrinking diet the low-carb diet I was told to stay under 40 or 50 carbs a day I stayed under 20 or 30. It was probably the best thing idea did for my surgery after about a week I started feeling great I actually lost 15 pounds in those two weeks I lost a total of 28 pounds so far. I'm actually convinced I could've lost a bunch of weight just the low-carb diet by itself. I was always too scared to do the Atkins diet or the low-carb diet goes I love carbs so much especially bread and pastas. I suggest you start your presurgery diet two weeks in advance not one week and you go overboard on the low carbs. I talked to my surgeon after the surgery and asked him about the presurgery diet he couldn't stress to me enough how much easier the surgery was by having a shrunken and not fatty liver to mess with. I don't know what kind of surgery you are having, well I know it sleeve but are they doing one large incision or they doing laproscopic surgery? I had the laparoscopic and there were five incisions and they really haven't hurt at all they are little tender but that's it. Three of them are about 3/8 of an inch long in the other two are about 1 1/4 inches long My surgery was on a Thursday I felt great by Saturday. Didn't get home until Monday night but I easily could gone back to work Monday morning. I did go back to work a little bit Tuesday, but by Wednesday I was climbing on roofs again. I don't think you have anything to worry about first far as recovery I think in a couple of weeks you will be able pick your kids up just fine. They say the low-carb diet works and I believe them and they say that it takes away your hunger I believe that to. Probably the worst part is I'm a little tired every day I think that's because I'm on 600 to 900 calories every day and my body's natural response is to want to sleep to conserve energy. I don't have any problems drinking I just have to drink kind of slow I am getting tired of the Protein Shakes but I just keep telling myself get by these first six or eight months then I'll be back to regular food. I tried a little soft food but I'm not ready for that so I'm just going to stick to the liquid only diet. I've been drinking Soups run through the blender, which are okay but again getting kind of tired of them. I just can't wait till i've lost 60 or 70 pounds I used Dr Ismael Cabrera and Dr Louisiana Valenzuela they are a team which does surgeries out of Tijuana Mexico at Hospital MI Doctor.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
