Yes it is I am 2 weeks post op I have a cup of cafe latte skinny from Starbucks and I specifically asked my surgeon as well as nut they both said no problem the reason some people drink Decaf is because of acidity if u don't have that issue you should go ahead and enjoy a nice cup. Of java

I only avoided coffee for a brief period and only because I chose to, not because I was advised to do it.

I have one every day. I wish I could have more, honestly, but I can't tolerate caffeine like before.

Just watch for acid issues and for a stronger reaction to the caffeine, but otherwise there are a lot of us that never gave up coffee for any length of time.

That's a gray area had you not had surgery, right now or especially while still starting healing you need to stay well hydrated. for your stomach to mend best. Basically it comes down to that the cafeine makes you urinate. It's over rated to say it's a cause of dehydration when you read about it, they say it takes more than 4 cups a day or at least 6 -8 cups to be problimatic in causing dehydration, yet also when you consume a cup you let out many times more fluids than just that cup of coffee from it's cafeine content. Drink allot and you'll pee out quarts.

When I was post surgery in hospital, I was roomed with a man who had a by pass years before and needed a hernia operation, he plainly said that once he started drinking coffee it did in fact cause him enough dehydration and it's discomfort to quit altogether after trying that.

A small portion may not hurt, but the coffee has enough cafeine and is a diaretic and causes your body Water flood out each cup and tea about 20% cafeine of coffee. If you do get dehydration problems some worst things you could do is drink coffee or alcohol because it will become worse.

I was given the option of coffee whilst still in hospital.. Neither my surgeon or nut said there was a problem. If you are getting in your fluids there should not be a problem. Sometimes I have a skinny latte as my morning snack. Coffee does make you urinate, but so does Water.< /p>

simply is different, coffee causes your body to out more by a few times rather than in from with in the body, Water goes in, some stays absorbed through body and cells and some passes through and out.

I prefered since weeks before surgery to have some tea, now, yes, I still have in the mornings, if I have a second cup I drink some extra water after that.

I am five weeks out, and I missed that cup of coffee more than anything! I was advised to avoid coffee for a minimum of four months, though they discourage it all together. I must admit I caved at 4 weeks, and returned to one cup of black coffee in the morning. I feel normal now :)

Im 5 weeks out. At week 3 my surgeon said if I could tolerate coffee I could have it. I agree, it does keep my regular.

I love my coffee too and missed it so much post-op. I do notice that I forget to eat and will tend to drink less Water once I have my Jo, so I use it as a reward-get x Protein and water in then have coffee! Win win!

I didn't drink much coffee pre op but I did enjoy the occasional cup every now and then. When I was in the hospital right after surgery they gave me coffee and it was the l best thing I ever had and now drink a cup every morning. I just use sugar free flavored Creamer or fat free half and half and truvia.

I was a Starbucks-a-day iced coffee drinker. Don't get me started on full fat Frappuccinos that I was addicted to for years but I stopped that in January 2012 and switched to iced coffee with a little cream or whole milk and Splenda. That being said I cut back on coffee almost completely about one month before my surgery. I had my surgery on January 15 (2013). Through my required nutritional classes I was told to avoid caffeine because of ulcers. In the hospital during recovery, my stage 2 menu included Decaffeinated coffee and tea. At my post-op visit on January 31st I do plan to talk to my doctor about coffee because I would like to treat myself to a skinny latte or iced coffee when I am out with friends! I'm sure I would only be able to get down a tall Starbucks drink anyway...

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
