Hihi all- I'm new at this

Recommended Posts

Longtime lurker-Newbie member.....many many months of reading almost everything on here...I wasn't going to join until I had something to say. I know it sounds silly but after months of reading, thinking and making things happen it just hit me that all of this.....all of everyones fears, trials, tears and struggles will be my own in 2.5 weeks. In 2.5 weeks my whole life changes forever. wow. so after a mini panic attack and 1/2 a bottle of wine, I realized that all of the amazing things the everyone goes through will be mine as well. I wont be carrying around a 2nd person on my body. I will be able to walk up the stairs...around the mall...pretty much everywhere without hurting and running out of breath. I wont have to ignore the mirror because I just cant look at myself anymore. I will FINALLY have some control and finally enjoy life the way I see everyone else having. So. That's what I wanted to say. I hope I can make friends who are seasoned veterans ;) and some who are new at this as well. ^_^

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
