I am still on my liquid diet and not back at work. I have had no complications. My biggest concern is becoming dehydrated. I do not want to go back into the hospital for that. So, I sit here worried day to day that I will drink too much and damage my new sleeve. But at the same time I worry that it takes me forever to get in a Protein Shake and fluids the rest of the day. I guess some of my frustration comes from not having someone to talk to about how it feels if I am drinking too much because the people I know have a bypass and not a sleeve. Things are easier going down this week than last. I don't know if that means I am healing or if I drank too much and stretched my sleeve. Any input, advice, anything will be welcomed!

Don't stress too much about it; I'm 5 weeks out and still only getting about 32-40 oz. in a day of liquids, but otherwise doing well. I have no signs of dehydration.

Im 7 weeks out and easily get 60 ounces in. I can pretty much drink the same as I did before surgery. I dont have to take tiny sips anymore. I can take rather large mouth fulls with no problems. Plus, liquid will go right thru you. I dont think its possible to stretch your sleeve with liquids. My surgeon wanted me to make getting in fluids my first priority moreso than the Protein. But I bought the Unjury chicken broth which has 21 grams of protein per 8 ounces so I was able to get fluids AND protein at the same time. Ive heard some folks find it a little salty but you can just dilute it with more Water but either way, its really good.

I am 3 days post op and have the same fear...I had a hiatal hernia repaired while sleeved and get hiccups a lot which hurt. I tried broth last night and the smell alone made me ill...so I've stuck to Water a remade Protein Drink and popscicles....I think I've averaged 24 ozs a day which is not enough but each day I'm getting more and more down....I think it just takes time and we have to be cautious and patient.

You likely won't damage your sleeve getting liquids in. They don't stick around in there, they go right through. I also had trouble getting my fluids in- still forget sometimes and take a "gulp" and I'm quickly reminded. I can get down my 64 ounces fairly easily. Sounds like you are doing fab. I am 5 weeks 4 days out.
