Submitted to insurance yesterday

Recommended Posts

It could be two things going on. One is that they truly don't have the paperwork another is that once they send the paperwork it must be going to another dept then that dept may need to look it over. My stuff was submitted on last Wed around the afternoon timeframe. I have heard that it can take 15 business days so all is not lost yet for us. I will call every other day to check on it though. I am calling the pre-cert dept. Which dept are you calling?

I haven't spoken to them, just the general number, the other day they gave me a number to pre-cert but it was BCBS of Georgia so I wasn't sure if this was correct. So I have continued to call the general number.

I also have Anthem BCBS and I am so glad to have read this post! I now know what to look forward to when my office does submit the paperwork!

Unfortunately I have emailed my PA twice this week to find out when she is submitting my paperwork but she has not responded yet! Ugh!

I am so sorry to hear this, remember many insurances will deny you. According to the American Society of Bariatric Surgeons, insurance companies will do this in hopes that you give up. They will find errors in paperwork or errors in filing etc. to deny you. This is an expensive surgery and if they can get a few people to say "forget it or I'm done" that's money in their pocket. So don't give up file an appeal, don't let them win.

I have *** of IL. I call every other day. They received my paperwork on Jan 23, rejected it on Jan 25. My surgeon's nurse said everything was sent. I guess I'll find out in about 20 min. when I call AGAIN.

Good luck to you all!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
