Submitted to insurance yesterday

The surgeon's office said it could take Anthem BCBS 14 business days to respond. Now I look at my phone every ten minutes to see if I missed a call lol

You can also call BCBS yourself and check with them. When my insurance was submitted surgeon's office said same thing. I called BCBS 2 days later to see if they received it and not only have they received it they had already approved it. Good luck

I got somewhat the same answer, they probably have the paperwork, but the Nurse has to review it and it's not in the system. My heart sank to my feet. At least I know that it won't be long, everybody seems to get a response pretty quickly with Anthem. I keep my fingers crossed for you also, it would be funny if we get approved on the same day!

This is crazy, not sure why some get approved the same day.

No I called this morning and was told nothing was received yet. I then called the office and asked did they send it in, told her I called. The office coordinator got mad when I told her I called, she said angrily "Why did you call"? I said because I am the one who's having surgery and it's My Insurance company! She checked her attitude and said she also called and they gave her a verification of receipt, but there is still no authorization yet :(

My office got mad too and said they had it under control and the Nurse at anthem has to do something. We wouldn't be calling if the surgeons office explained what happens. The surgeons office told me that they've done this many times before. I took it as we've done this before and we have it handled. Anthem will keep telling you it's not in the system until apparently the Nurse looks it over. Sounds like the same thing is going on with us. it's day 4 for is, day 15 I'm going off lol

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
