Surgery Complication..Rectus Muscle Hematoma? Need help..

Recommended Posts

One more question on the hernia you had.. was it your right or left side? Everything I read so far on it says it happens mostly on the right side and mine is on the left.

Thanks!

Mine is on the right but I have a small spigelian hernia on my left as well. The right was repaired because it was painful and larger... The left got better after weight loss but the right already had petrusion which was felt and it was painful to touch even a graze of my skin felt like fire.

I had a general surgeon repair mine and it was a simple procedure of placing a small mesh and sewing the muscle back together.

Now I do understand that you just had major surgery on your stomache on the left side so I would deal with a surgeon who is confident to working in that area. If you must use you bariatric surgeon always have someone with you when seeing him. Most drs work more professionally around more than just the patient.

I remember how painful it was so I wish you a speedy diagnosis and healing.

Ask lots of questions until you feel comfortable with the process.

I'm hoping all the best for you!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
