I kind of had a real bad break down and cried a lot. I hate these emotional roller coasters. I've been feeling this aches and pains all over my body and I just so tired of it that I freaked and started bawling. I do t know what's happening to me. Sometimes I feel like this is all too much for me and I wanna quit.

Hey we are out here to support you! No one has to do this alone. It is perfectly normal to feel a little overwhelmed from time to time. It is a BIG step to take and I am proud that you are taking that step. It is a lot to try to do, and sometimes those kind of feeling just roll out. Try one day at a time. Get through that day and say I made it through this day! I am always here to help and support you. You can always send me a personal E-mail if you do not want to talk about it on here. My E-mail is Suzannesh@aol.com The good part is that some of us have been down this road ahead of you, so we do know how you are feeling, Take care, Suzanne

I'm 3 months out and was just thinking the same. It's a lot tougher than I thought it would be. I don't think you can ever be really prepared for all the changes. It really grinds on my nerves when someone insinuates i took the "easy" way out. An alcoholic and a smoker can have moments where they give into temptation. We cant this soon out even if we wanted to. Hang in there. It's going to be worth it.

I'm 2 1/2 mod post-op and I feel your pain. The emotional roller coasters are so hard somedays. I don't know about you but reading from those that are at least 6 mos out and hearing how good they feel makes me feel so much better. Having this forum has been so helpful for me, I hope it helps you too. Hang in there :)

Its tough an alcoholic and a smoker can avoid social situations putting them around other smokers or drinkers. food is everywhere and we need it to survive. Commercials are my worst enemy!

The pains are something I would address with my PCP. Hope it stops soon.

Did you ever have these pains prior? The only reason why I ask is because I was taking a **** load of meds to help mask the pain (osteoarthrits, Lupus and back problems) because I stopped taking all those meds I've been in lots of pain. I also think because we are losing weight so rapidly that our muscles are weakend. When our muscles are weakend we can walk different and that can cause back pains. My body has been cold which makes my bones ache. Hope you are feeling better soon…((hugs))

I feel you Frye. Today was a good enough day as any and I felt sad. I noticed my mood was irritable and I picked a fight with my boyfriend for no reason. This is a very difficult process and def not the "easy way out"! We are mourning the loss of a major organ!!! If we had to get our leg cut off we would have to grieve that as well. This is no different. And now we don't have food to help us cope like we used to. This surgery is a constant reminder of my addiction to food and all my cravings are heightened and in my face. Because before the sleeve I would have just given in and eaten the craving. Now I can't and I have mixed feelings about it.

I get you. I know it's hard. I'm hoping its gets easier....:0/ either way its a battle, I'm hoping we are on the winning side.

What brought this about? Honestly, I stay away from the TV all together. I don't want to watch food commercials. I do fine the more I remove myself from America's unhealthy obsession with terrible food.

It wasn't the food it was the pain and the fear of things happening to me. The pain is sudden all over my body not at the same time but at different points its there then gone in my calfs my sides and in my rib cage where the bones meet.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
