You may want to try capital one healthcare finance. You can only apply for this online. I think they work with various credit scores (of course, various interest rates).

Best wishes!

Several medical finance options are available, but like Melissa said Capital One is likely the most viable option for you. Keep this in mind, if you do have to finance with a high interest rate. If you make your payments, make them on time, and add any extra you can afford for a steady period of 6 months, you can then approach them with lowering your interest rate. If they refuse, chances are you can then transfer your balance to a credit card that IS willing to work with you. BUT on the other hand if you don't make the additional payment on time, etc. it can affect everything from your auto insurance to obtaining new jobs, getting a new place to live, etc. Which can all be stressful, and that isn't any more beneficial than the extra weight.

Some places have in house financing, you might check with the surgeon you chose.

Good Luck, with us self payers, it is alway a difficult decision...but in my opinion, we are worth it!!!

I was self pay and coming from a previous marriage where there was a lot of bad credit and new hubby's ex killed his credit, we are still in the recovery process as well. We refinanced our home with cash out to pay for the surgery. Right now, our payments are higher than what we would like, but in the refinance, we paid off all our credit cards and vehicles. Like Kat said, our plan is to make on time payments for a year and improve our credit, then look at refinancing one more time at a lower rate.

One word of caution.... from what I have heard here on LBT Capitol One will only finance you if you have your surgery in the US. If you are going to Mexico you will have to look at other options.

I went through a dr in mexico and paid half up front and make 12 payments of 356. Had the surgery in june. they just take the payment out of my account every month, but of course i did have to pay 4500.00 up front. ps. they dont charge any finance charge for this. and no credit check

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
