Bos123 221 Posted January 24, 2013 Weird pain every now and then' date=' started struggling with a fever, but I'm home I lost soooooo much strength in the hospital it's taking a long time getting back to real life lol[/quote'] Well I am glad you are doing better! I was thinking of you often as you were one of the first journeys I encountered when I was preop. Hopefully soon this will all be a distant memory! I wish you the best! carstanger 346 Posted January 24, 2013 I don't regret it but feel sorry for myself when I have followed the rules and stall. My doctor did a scope of my stomach and then found a hiatal hernia I didn't know I had. Also gall bladder ultrasound as I had problems several years before. Totally nonfunctioning and no bile .So I had 3 procedures and scar tissue taken down. Down 38 pounds and 66 years old. You can do this!

Swimmer 199 Posted January 24, 2013 My only regret is telling some people. I wish I had only told my husband. Other than that I'm a year out and four pounds under my goal and 11 under my dr's. greatest thing I ever did for myself. It's been much easier than I expected. carstanger 346 Posted January 24, 2013 Thanks carol...did you not have an EGD prior ... Yes I guess that was the procedure before surgery where the doctor found the hiatal hernia. It was larger when he got I. There!
notmeanymore 629 Posted January 24, 2013 I have 2 regrets... One that I didnt have it sooner. I feel like I wasted so much of my life being unhealthy and feeling sorry for myself. Two that I told people I was getting it. The 'haters' think its the easy way out but if you ask anyone thats had it done, its FAR from easy. Now when I lose weight there are whispers of "well, she had WLS so it doesnt really count". Really? I didnt really lose weight? People are just as mean as they were when I was bigger though. Mean people suck. All that said, Id do it again tomorrow! 3 Bos123, Boofster and rockdutchess82 reacted to this

Holly5.3 423 Posted January 24, 2013 I regret trying to "diet" on my own just one more time before calling a WLS center! I went to Jenny Craig - lost about 68 pounds- cost over $100/week X 60 weeks-plateaued/stalled, whatever (was working out 5X week)-gained back 74 pounds! Went to an open house last July 24-Appt. w: surgeon on Aug. 4; started Pre-op diet on Aug 12 (@highest weight of 278). Surgery 2 months later on Oct 12 (weight 255). Today, a little over 3 months I weigh 203...total loss 75 pounds! In under 6 months!!! It's crazy!!! I love it! 4 rockdutchess82, mhull01, notmeanymore and 1 other reacted to this
hadouni 301 Posted January 24, 2013 I let my new PCP talk me out of doing it in late 2010 so I had to wait until early 2012 to do it. So, not doing it sooner for me, as well. My other regret, is not exercising regularly now... I'm just back to the regular treadmill gig and feeling great though!
rockdutchess82 26 Posted January 24, 2013 My patient advocate just told me that babies with sleeved mommies have a low birth weight... I don't want that to be my biggest regret as I would like to have another baby since I am 30 years old 1 lizv123 reacted to this
sramos89 260 Posted January 25, 2013 I think that is why they want you to wait so long after surgery to have a baby. I think as long as you eat very well and are on top of your Vitamins you will be great!

Boofster 159 Posted January 25, 2013 Please, all those skinny chicks that have only the basketball belly and are back in their pre-preggo jeans on the way home from the hospital ate less than you will with a sleeved stomach, and nobody was warning them. In fact, their OBs were probably congratulating them on not gaining too much weight. If you wait the optimal amount of time before getting pregnant (I think 18 months?), I am sure you can make it work -- maybe you will eat more often rather than more in a sitting, more Vitamins, Protein, fluids, etc. The person to talk to is your OB-GYN and a nut.
