So Friday I shall be upgraded to purée! Be honest, will I get full quick? I'm scared I won't get full! Should I make my food with less broth so it's thicker, assuming I can tolerate it?

My go-to was creamed Soups like cheddar broccoli made with skim milk. Take tiny spoonfuls (baby spoon), go slow. At first you'll only get maybe 1/4 cup in (and it will be cold by the time you finish!) it's very filling and satisfying just be sure to still have Protein Shakes for nutrition when you need to. A 1/4 cup of Soup doesn't give you much, even with milk. Just be careful with lumps too, strain your soup if there's chinks of veggies, etc. in the soups. Good luck!

I just started my soft foods and purees yesterday. I made my self an egg this morning and thought "there is no way this is goin to fill me up.". I couldnt even eat it all. I had applesauce on the side because that was a suggested meal from the nutritionist, but I couldn't even fathom eating that. I was SHOCKED ( the fat girl in me loved the taste and wanted to keep eating, but there was just no way). Good luck!

You can eat anything with apple sauce consistency . I actually had blended chicken breast with lite mayo today it was not a purée since it was dry and no broth it went down k but I was only able to eat 2 one oz cups and I was full even apple sauce I had to finish in 2 go :)refried Beans with Low fat cheese is another good option

Hi! I am on my last day of Purees today! Soft foods tomorrow, but my favorite go tos for puréed stage was heated fat free refried Beans with cold cottage cheese......took me two hours to eat the first bowl! Another favorite of mine is cream of chicken mixed with unflavored Protein powder (make sure to let it cool to below 140 before putting the powder in it) over top of mashed potatoes.....heaven and super full really quick! So, best to make small amounts and finish throughout the day. You do get super full!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
