Calories or protein...one or the other...

Recommended Posts

I'm a little over 2 months out. I aim for 600-800 calories a day. Some days I've gone up to 1,000. I find that on days when I'm in the 600-800 calorie range I have a hard time getting in all my Protein. Even though I do stick to Protein dense foods most of the time (chicken, fish, string cheese, eggs) I feel like its a struggle to get over 60 grams because I'm eating relatively small amounts of the foods.

Any suggestions for upping protein with out upping calories. I don't drink shakes every day though I do sometimes for Breakfast, but really trying to get the protein from real foods at this point. Any advise?

Premier Protein shakes- 30g - 160 calories -1 g of fat in 11 oz - I enjoy the vanilla. You can buy them at SAMs or costco

Thanks everyone keeps talking about those but I don't have a Sams or Cosco by me :( I buy something very similar from GNC- ready to drink carb control shakes and they are 25 grams of Protein and very good. I don't drink them every day though and I'm trying to get my protein from real food. Maybe I need to go back to shakes every day :sigh:

Im sorry to say that the best way to increase Protein and decrease cals. is to definately have a shake every day. When your protein is increased you won't need as many calories, you can get them back down to 600-700; but that depends on how fast you want to lose the weight, as well. At just 3-1/2 months post-op, I'm trying to get the biggest bang for my buck during the first year honeymoon stage. I'll have my 1,000-1,200 calorie days again, but not until I'm a much smaller size.

The most important thing right is protein - I was told make sure you get your protein in before anything - FYI cottage cheese is High in protein like crazy 12 grams per serving

Thanks guys! Well I guess it's back to shakes for me lol. I wanted to try to do it with food but seeing it isn't feasible yet, and I do want to maximize my weight loss at this stage!

For Protein intake I am mixing the nectar fuzzy navel flavour with a ready to go Protein Drink like Isopure (couldn't find the isopure here) it watermelon flavoured and has 42g of protein it. So I mix a scoop of the peach nectar which is 23g and half a otter of the watermelon so half is like 21g of protein. Been mixing it then adding a lite bit f Water and ice and it literally tastes like Tang!

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
