I know it's hard but you can do it! It's only for a couple of more days.

Remember you will be able to eat again. Try to embrace the process, this is going to lead you to a new happier, healthier life :)

I'm also preop, but I've done liquid diets and I know it's hard, but you can do this. Run to GNC and get some different Protein Powder if you really hate the Unjury but don't give up. By tomorrow you'll be feeling a bit better and this will get easier as you go along.

I like the Atkins Advantage strawberry shake. I tried the Wild berry but don't like the after taste. I'm going to try others before Tuesday which when I start my pre-op diet.

i get it that you are struggling with liquids :(

we've all been there, done that

other sleever "up above" ;) have given good suggestions on different shakes to help make the constant liquid possibly taste better

you just gotta grin and bear it, hang in there (I know easier said than done)

you have to be kind to your tummy, thats the reason for Clear Liquids, then slowly "upping" your eating to full liquids, then pureed, soft, and 'regular solids"

it does take a bit to get to the "end of the rainbow", but it will happen :)

"God grant me patience, just hurry up about it :) "

good luck

continued healthy speedy recovery :)

I am 3 days post op and didn't know how good Water was until I couldn't have any for 24 hours. I know it's hard but it's mind over matter. You can do it, just stay prayed up and before you know it your healthy days will be here.

chicken broth has been my saving grace. I hate sweet stuff and the savory flavor of chicken broth is amazing!!!! I use Knorr Caldo de Pollo.

It's usually on the Soup isle. It only takes a teaspoon for a 16 oz cup. Try it. I PROMISE it will help!!!

As far as hunger, the Protein shakes are what satisfy the hunger for me. Hope this helps!!! :)

My favorite thing during liquids was to boil black Beans in chicken broth and then purée them in the blender... Strain the beans and the Soup is amazing and fills good on your stomach. I even added a lil sour cream for a slight thickness and it was so amazing. It's just what you need to get away from all the sweet Protein flavors and drinks

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
