I put my deposit down yesterday!! =) I moved the date from April 8th to April 12th but that's still a little up in the air at the moment. I will be having the surgery with Dr. Lopez and Dr. Ortiz as secondary at Mi Doctor in TJ.

Also on a side note- I'm down 33lbs so far on pre-op!! Now I need at least another 7 to go for the lower BMI.

Oh and I have to get passport cards still. Which I've heard is only taking about 3 weeks to receive.

Hey there. I'm having surgery the 12th as well. I'm going with Dr. Ariel Ortiz. Will you be staying at the Marriott?

Is there anybody going to dr Corvala at hospital angles in mx? He's one of the best but hardly any reviews

I'm set up with Dr. Corvala on April 20! I had a friend that had surgery with him and said he was treated wonderfully and was out earlier than expected.

Hi Laurie, my surgery went great. Wow, I can't say enough great things about Dr. Aerial Ortiz and his awesome team! I am so glad that I went with my gut and did my research! This was truly the best choice I ever could have made. I know that the OCC costs a bit more than some other clinics, but honestly we are sooo worth it. You won't be disappointed I promise you. I found out while I was in TJ that the first Dr I booked before I did my research now owns a funeral parlor as well. Mostly because of so many botched surgeries! Please Laurie, do the best thing for yourself and every person who loves you and stick with the OCC!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
