Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

Just had a pre-op ooops. Ugh.

Recommended Posts

I was snacking on Cookies that were supposedly "diet" while at a meeting. I had 8 of them knowing that it was too much. Got back to the car and googled the brand. There is 100 calories PER COOKIE! How the hell is that a "diet" cookie? I feel like my whole day is ruined now.

Yikes on the bad labelling of those cookies! Dang! Don't stress it though. We all make mistakes, no one is perfect, and if you beat yourself up, you'll only feel bad. Just say oops, and move on. You are doing great with your loss so far, so keep it up!

I agree, let it go! Do not use that as a way to screw up the entire day <- I used to do this. It's easy to get in the mindset of, "It doesn't matter what my day of eating looks like because I already screwed it all up with 800 cals on Cookies. What's the point, I'll start fresh tomorrow. Yada, yada, yada. Don't do it! You are doing great- 84 pounds is remarkable. Don't stress! :)

Don't beat yourself up. You thought the Cookies were diet. I intentially ate some pretzel bites 5 days before my surgery. I felt bad, but those pretzel bites were EXTREMELY good. I still lost 3 pounds in less than a week on my modified diet. Had I not had the pretzel bites it may have been 3 and a half. Anyway, my surgery went well and I have been on liquid for 13 days. I have no regrets about that last hurrah! :D

The serving size was 3 Cookies. I want to know how 300 calories worth of cookies is considered diet? I meet with my NUT tomorrow. Now I am scared for my weigh in.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
