Prevent excess skin

Recommended Posts

I'm scheduled to be having my sleeve done in June. Is their anything I can do now to prevent/or help with the excess skin? I heard getting full body massages after surgery can help. Does anyone know if that's true?

Thanks in advance for your help :)

Fish oil, Vitamin E, keeping your skin moisturized should help, but from what I have read it takes time for your skin to catch up!

Does anybody know if compression garments work to help reduce the excess skin? I know after pregnancy some recommend a compression garment for your stomach to help it return to it's pre-pregnancy form.

I have read cardio and hydration help. Both Water intake and lotion hydration help.

my doctor told me that i will have some lose skin no matter what but it usually takes about three years for it to get to "normal" as long as I take care of myself. He suggested I do toning excerise and use Vitamin E orally and oils on my skin and stay well hydrated. As far as compression garments i dont think they really have a long term effect but i will be using them once i lose the weight so clothes will fit better. I have a friend that sells these things called "the wraps" they work on her it is only temp but it may be something you want to check out

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
