I can't wait to have that feeling! All I want is to STOP obsessing about food, and how big I am, and anything that revolves around those topics! I just want to give my poor brain a break from all the stressing and worrying about my weight.

The relief will be amazing. I can only imagine how great it's going to feel to have extra energy!

Congratulations!! :-)

I have the same regret. Just hit six months post-op and I'm down 113 pounds. My health is so much better and I now possess this thing called confidence.

Congrats on going through with it :)

I live in Canada, and the wait times for a consultation is 2 years plus... But I finally got a call for a consultation scheduled for April 11th 2013. If everything goes well, I could be sleeved within two months of that date or up to 6 months!! Fingers crossed its two months lol ;-)

I know what you mean. I feel the same, but lifes too short for regrets.

Who knows what affect being overweight or obese has had on us. Maybe we have more empathy, maybe we're stronger, maybe it's why we never give up.

I don't regret being obese. It's part of what I'm made of - I'm just glad my future isn't as a fat dude!

Dean you are exactly right ...

Funny thing is I used to hate taking pictures now I can't seem to stop looking in the mirror can't wait to go to the store and buy anything off the rack instead of looking for 4 XL . I am planning to join martial Arts and gym ... I feel so energized so good that I can't even explain yesterday when I met my surgeon I got so excited that I thanked him and gave him a hug ... It's really amazing and life changing ....

I have the same regret, I wish it had been available and perfected ten years ago!!! I love my sleeve, but it does NOT stop me from obsessing!! I still think about food, but I no longer mindlessly eat, I think about gaining weight, what I weigh and how big I am. The size 6 tells me I am pretty small, but I don't see 'tiny' when I look in the mirror. I no longer see 'fat' but I still, like most people, women anyway, pick myself apart. The difference is, I am HAPPY with me, how I look and where I am, but I don't think the obsessive thoughts will ever leave. Do y'all??!!!!

I still obsess. I am giddy with happiness, but I still obsess. I come to this forum countless times every day because I obsess. At least now I'm obsessing with success instead of failure!!

Newly at goal, I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around what I see. Today a coworker took a picture of me on his new phone, to set me up as a contact. I was shocked at the gaunt face! I didn't realize my face looked so thin now (older picture in avatar, had lost a lot, but not at goal when the picture was made).

And Monday, I went shopping for new bras, hopefully last downsizing I'll have to do, but in the dressing room I couldn't concentrate on the bras. I kept looking at my pants. Just a year ago one thigh was almost as big around as my entire lower body is now. Not really, in inches, but I just couldn't quit staring in the 3-way mirror at those slim brown pants... saleslady kept pestering me, I just wanted to keep looking... from 3X to M/12.

Think I'll take a new picture of myself...

There, new picture posted.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
