Protein Water

Recommended Posts

:help: I just came back from Walmart where I saw Protein Water. It said it had 20g of protein and 80calories for the 575ml bottle. It came in pink lemonade or sour apple. any thoughts on this product ? I don't get banded until Jan and looking for anything that will help me out .

I know what you're talking about... I think. Is this it?

I tried it a few months ago. It wasn't great... from what I remember. I recall it being really sour... as you can imagine, from grapefruit and sour apple! I had the grapefruit.

I got mine from Shoppers Drug Mart... how much was it at Walmart? I might give it a try again. :o

Yes , I am from Thunder Bay. It wes where they sell all the Protein powers , herbal tea, weight loss pills ect ! It sparked my interest. I thought if is was a good product, that I would buy it for Jan when I get banded.

It was $1.97.They had pink lemonade and sour apple. Is it a good way to get your Protein when you are on the restricted diet ?

Well... it's best to get your Protein from the meats (or other Protein rich things) you should be eating. And if you do like you're supposed to, eating the meat portion of your dinner before veggies and/or carbs, you probably won't have a problem getting all your protein in. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Oh, what restricted diet are you talking about ?

Yes, it would be a good idea to have some sort of liquid Protein supplement for your first couple of weeks after the surgery. If I had known about this Protein Water and its avail. in Canada I likely would have tried it and stuck with it if I liked the taste.

Give it a whirl...try it in advance (along with a couple of other sources) so you know what you like and will "enjoy" during your post-band recovery.

Now, if they could only come out with protein popsicles!!

Yasmina, I found that the first week after surgery really wasnt that bad for hunger. I really didnt feel like much at all. By the time you start feeling hungrier you can usually add more food. I think the hardest part is just prior to your first fill. Hunger is usually back big time.

My post-op experience was like Cloe's. The first week I lived on Water, apple juice and broth but I really didn't feel hungry. The feelings of hunger didn't reoccur until some weeks after I had had the surgery and so following the post-op diet was really easy. Remember, too, that while the portions are small there are many little Snacks. It seems that you are always having half a cup of something or other.

Certainly you should try out this Protein water to see if it is okay, Yasmina. It could be a good thing to have on hand for that first week. My 1st week was devoid of protein. You will need chewable vitamins and a pill crusher for your meds. I found the experience surprisingly easy and I am a sissy!

I tried the grape flavor Protein Water by stacker, it was at brooks pharmacy for 2.49 and it was really pretty good, for days when you can't get your protein in with food alone. I liked it way better than any Protein Shake. I looked online and there were 2 different brands, and the Stacker brand was more expensive but tasty!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
