dr. weiner making a deal?

Recommended Posts

I just wrote this all out and posted it and it didn't work i guess.

Ok, so I'm thinking about using dr. weiner in Frankfurt, Germany. He does all the gastric bypasses for the military bases I guess. His staff even knows the tricare people here by name.

Since I am a selfpayer, he emailed me to make a deal? He is will to knock 1k off the price if I will pay the day of surgery in full , but we have to use another hospital. Has a dr. ever made a deal with you before? Does this sound Kosher? I really need this done correctly, I can't afford one band never mind two!

Hi sweet.... I'm sorry, I'm still rolling over here because of "Dr Weiner in Frankfurt" Poor guy!

If the doc is reputable I think it sounds like a good deal!

lol!!! My DH and I were hysterical the first night I googled him! ROLF.

Yes he is very reputable, I hear. I guess he even wrote procedures or something for this. Not exactly sure, but he's been doing this since they came out and he uses the American LapBand not the European bands.

I jsut never heard of a dr. making a deal. I guess this is business for him, whereas for me it's life changing.

Maybe he figures that there will be less paperwork needed for you, because they won't have to deal with an insurance company? So he figures it's worth a break to you.

He isnt a Military Doc is he? My mom is 100% disabled vet.... and most military folks will agree that they dont have the best docs. Just be careful. Good Luck! ~Raynie!

no, he is not military. He's just a dr. in Germany where we are stationed. I feel better now that I got your responses on this. so the Surgery will cost 5k instead of 6k, a thousand dollars means the world to us, so i'm glad to have the discount. I can't wait till the consult, I should have an appointment set up by tomorrow for next week!! Maybe i'll have the surgery the week after. what a dream come true. In some ways I wish I hadn't read any negative on the band, those thoughts keep creeping in my mind. Do you think the majority of people have good experiences? I so want to be a fast loser! fast thoughts, fast thoughts.

Good luck sweet! Do lots of research and read everything you can find on the band and you will be fine.

I was self-pay. The doc's price was $16000 if I financed, but $15000 if I paid by cashier's check by the day of surgery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
