Treadmill Stress Test?

Recommended Posts

I go tomorow for a treadmill stress test. I am scared to death I will have trouble with it. You know, it's not like I'm thin and in great physical shape....Can anyone give me their experience with it if it is something you had to do? Thanks....

I've done one. It wasn't required for my surgery though. It was easy for me. They take your bp, monitor you the whole time, increasing speed and elevation to increase your heart rate to target range. So if your heart rate goes up fast with moderate speeds, that's all you need to do. I only had to walk fast, vs run. It's over pretty quickly too.

well, if they will have hiu jooked up to these monitors so they can monitor you heart while you are on the treadmill so they can see bow yiur heart reacts ti stress, if it is a myoview they will be able to see your arteries and if hou have any blockages, if it is am echo they will do an ultrasound of uour heart to look at the arteria amd blood flow. It WILL NOT be easy but its doable. They wil start you out walking and increase the speed and the incline to get to your maximum heart rate, it takes about 20 minutes, best of luck to you????

Ive had a couple of these...the test does not take long at all. You do not run. They tell you before they speed up but in small increments. You tell them when you do not think you can go any more. Once you do that part, you then wait awhile and every 15-30 min or so...cant remember.. They do another set of pictures to see how the flow is going. It is truly nothing to worry about. Actually quite interesting. Good luck!

I've had several - one for pre-op. I don't mind them at all - it's the last level of incline that's the killer. But you tell them when you can't go for another minute. They don't want you to run. It's not bad.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
