Resistance Bands Help

Recommended Posts

Hi! I am excited to get resistance bands for upper arms and leg exercises. I googled and looked at amazon---and there's way too too many options. Can you guys recommend a good/safe one, and hopefully one that works with a regular door. I'm not handy at all, and would like something simple and strong. I'm only 5" so nothing too long either. Thanks!!!

Hi Misty!

You'd do fine with whatever brand you get. I've got scads of these things from all different makers and they all seem to be the same quality and length (I'm short too) so depending on what muscles I'm targeting sometimes I have to shorten it up by holding onto the tube instead of the handles. The different colors mean different levels of resistance and I think any person with even moderate or less strength could start out with a medium resistance band and get good results. Just pay attention to your form and don't over extend joints. Get one that has the little dohinky so you can anchor it in a door to get a more varied workout, and make sure the door is closed FIRMLY before you start your moves or it can whip out and darn near kill you! LOL Good luck!

I found the Black Mountain resistance bands worked well. After seeing over 600 reviews, it was a no-brainer for me. Here's the Amazon link if you'd like to read some of the reviews. http://goo.gl/8AYBy

Thanks guys for the tip!!! Amazon had great reviews and its the #1 best seller and it's all inclusive so I don't need to buy anything else-- plus i have Prime, so shipping is only 2 days! And yes! I will make sure the door is closed Lol ;)

Misty_eyes, how are you liking those resistance bands? I'm thinking of ordering the same set.

If the bands are too long for any of your particular exercises just wind each end around your hands - my trainer hipped me to that one :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
