I had my surgery 1/9 down 12lbs and able to tolerate anything within reason....however today I woke up with awful pain near one of my incisions (I have 6 including drain)...I'm not feverish no redness but pain when I walk. Thank goodness I go get this drain out today anyway but I'm worried they are going to say I have a leak. I have.t had much pain and today of all days .....keeping my fo.gets crossed!

Once you get that drain out you will feel like you never had this surgery you wouldn't feel any pain there after trust me it worked the same way for me .......

I actually felt worse after they took the drain out, for about a day. I found I also would have seemingly random pain here and there. Just keep tabs on it, and try not to worry too much. Good luck!

I almost went back in the hospital after my drain was removed. I had a large "ball" of Fluid that stretched all the way up to my breast. I was actually on the phone arranging things with my surgeon when I sat up and was covered in Fluid. The collection found the old drain tract and felt immensely better. But for about a week if my drain site stopped leaking I'd spike a fever.

If its not your drain that's hurting it's probably just the hole they pulled your belly out of. My right lower incision hurt for about a month. It was dented in and everything lol but my surgeon said its very normal for patients to have one incision site hurt worse than others. It was stretched out more than the rest.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
