newshell 0 Posted January 22, 2013 I am in the process of being approved for surgery. I cook for a living. I studied culinary with a hospitality degree and have been cooking at a gourmet deli/meat market for several years now. I worry how hard it will be for me to stay on my pre-op diet and post-OP a well. Also wondering if I will loose my love for creating dishes. *Dean* 1,594 Posted January 22, 2013 Hey Newshell. Welcome. My wife works in the food industry and we consider ourselves foodies. From my perspective I don't think you'll have anything to worry about long term. I still have a passion for GOOD food. To be honest our cooking has a healthier slant now, but with no less passion. I'm 11 weeks post op tomorrow. I did some picanha steaks tonight grilled over lump charcoal and a panzanella (it's summer here). If you have a passion for good food you should still have a passion for food post op. That's how it's been for me anyway. Food just won't rule you. theshrinkingchef 61 Posted January 22, 2013 I agree! I'm a chef and I have crazy food allergies! I'm seriously allergic to the earth! It took a lot of creativity, but I have found ways to create meals to suit my needs. As a chef, we have the gift of being able to create things others may not even consider. I find I'm more focused when cooking because I'm not constantly thinking about eating. It sort of clarified the enjoyment of cooking for me.
