Hypothyroidism & Calcium supplement

Recommended Posts

I have hypothyroidism and take Synthroid every night at bedtime. I am taking a calcium citrate supplement twice a day and was wondering if anyone else takes the Calcium and synthroid together? I heard it makes them both a little less effective and was wondering if anyone can tell me. Thank you!

I have hypothyroidism as well, and I take my levothyroxine (synthroid) in the morning. I was told to not take any Calcium suppliment within 2 hours of taking my thyroid med. I was even told that things like milk and Vitamin fortified oj...yogurt things high in calcuim can make the levothyroxine less effective. I would just take one in the am and one in the pm...thats what I do!

I am in the boat. I take mine seperate from my Calcium too, so I take it with my morning pills. Research does say they should be seperated like calcium and Iron too.

I keep my synthroid next to my bed. I take it before I even get out of bed in the morning. I don't take anything else eat until 2 hours later.
