So my family is having spaghetti & garlic bread. I made the ricotta bake for me. However I decided to try some garlic bread, I am in so much pain. It's like it's stuck in my back. I hope I don't puke. Uggggh never again!

It took a long time for me to be able to tolerate breads and pastas. I am over 2 years out and can eat it now, but only in small amounts and only once in a while. Starchy foods are not a sleeves friend!

I am a year out and can still hardly tolerate bread. Still miss it too lol. I would make myself throw it up, but that's just me, the grossness is worth not having the tummy ache.

I can tolerate those flat pita type breads but not too much. Sometimes I can tolerate those tiny McDonalds burgers, at least half of one. It seems I tolerate everything better earlier in the day.

I think you may have tried bread too soon. I am not a bread aholic so I didn;t have any for about 3 months.

I honestly don't know what I was thinking. I think I took the bite out of habit, not even thinking really. SOOO not worth it, I am pretty sure I will have a bread aversion now! Lol!!! That's a good thing.

I love bread, especially artisan bread..smelling it, looking at it, touching it and of course eating it! Just yesterday I was lingering in the bakery at Kroger mentally saying goodbye to all the lovely loaves...hopefully not forever though, a sammich isn't much of a sammich without some good hearty bread! In all honesty though, I think it would be for the best if I developed an aversion like you...it would DEF be a good thing. I'm just not ready to accept that yet! LOL

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
