Land and sea border crossings into Mexico only require the passport card.

The difference between a Passport and a Passport Card is if you travel to Europe or not. If you do, or think you ever might - get a Passport. If you only plan on traveling to Canada or Mexico - you can get by with a Passport Card.

"The passport card is the wallet-size travel document that can only be used to re-enter the United States at land border-crossings and sea ports-of-entry from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Bermuda. The card provides a less expensive, smaller, and convenient alternative to the passport book for those who travel frequently to these destinations by land or by sea...The passport card was designed for the specific needs of northern and southern U.S. border communities with residents that cross the border frequently by land. The passport book is the only document approved for international travel by air."

My take is why would you limit yourself to a Passport Card when you can get a Passport for a few more bucks? You never know what opportunities may open up to you in the future...just my take on it.

I know I'm splitting hairs here, but why are you limiting your explanation to traveling to Europe or not? Do you think that anyone going beyond the borders of Mexico or Canada must be going to Europe? That's a very presumptuous and narrow view. And yes, I am biased. My family is from Taiwan. My travels take me to Asia, not Europe.

Yeah. I think you're splitting hairs. I doubt any offense was meant and that Europe was being used as an example.

Yeah, you're splitting hairs. I just quickly grabbed the first example I thought of. And being that my friends recently moved back to the US from Holland, Europe was forefront on that list.

If I offended you, then I probably offended people from Australia, Africa, etc. So while Europe and Asia are the big ones, they aren't the only ones by any means...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
