I am still post-op but when I asked about energy drinks that was a no no due to carbonation. Carbonation causes your sleeve to stretch. Hope you make it past this craving quickly!

I met with my nut. today and she said no to caffeine and carbonation. I have read that some people let the drinks go flat. IJS

Depends on what your dr says.

I have a sf redbull every now and then when we play 2 hour round robin squash to give me enough energy to get through it.I open it the night before and put it in the fridge to go flat.

I'll never recommend them, but I am guilty of occasional use.

I drink Monster Rehab, the lemonade + tea flavor. It's not carbonated.

This is just me, but I wouldn't want to. That's a lot of chemicals in one big can.

I gave up all carbonation, but still enjoy a cup of regular coffee sometimes, so no way am I perfect in anything. Energy drinks just don't call my name.

I was a low carb monster-holic for years. Gave them up and bc if the carbonation I don't think I will have them anytime soon. I'm only a month and a half out so I can't say never. Just not at this time....

But oh how I miss them so...

I wouldn't recommend it either but I do 5 hour energy shots. 1-2. A week maybe. I Take an extra Nexium on those days just incase. I am a year out though. Make me feel great. Only vise I have. A girl needs some caffeine sometimes.

Oh, I used to drink those all the time before surgery. I was one wired dude all the time. That being said, they are pretty full of chemicals so will probably not help weight loss because fat cells like to cling to toxins ( most canned sodas or energy drinks, especially the diet variety, have a cocktail of chemicals in it). Best to stick to Water until further along in order to not mess with the healing process either.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
