Oh my gosh 1 week away from my new birthday! I can't wait to start this new adventure. I'm excited and a lil nervous. I took this weekend to really tell myself I was not gonna see food in the same way. I haven't been able to eat as usual. I think maybe in a sub conscious way, I am preparing myself mentally for this. I hope so. My husband is so excited fro me as well. So that is such a comfort. I am lucky that the majority of people in my life are a positive light for me. I hope this week flies by for me.

I'm sure it will go fast, just keep busy!!! Are you on a Pre op diet?

It's awesome that you have support from your husband, my boyfriend was so nervous for me. But he is happy with how I am going now (had surgery yesterday) and he has been supportive all along.

Good luck!

Well girls I am putting up some pics from my favorite department stores on my fridge and all over my office at work. I have so many plans on a new wardrobe. My brothers said they will take me on a shopping spree so ....I think they will be regretting they ever said that! LOL

I'm feeling ok, lots of pain yesterday but I have a button that releases pain killers into my IV which really helps. I woke up about every hour last night which was horrible and have been awake since 4am now.

I am feeling better but if I forget to keep pressing the button the pain comes back pretty bad.

I had to do 3 weeks of a Pre op diet to shrink my liver. It was pretty hard and I cheated a couple of times so your lucky you only have to do 2 days haha. Starting early might be a good idea though, it reduces the risk of anything happening in surgery

I have two dresses hung up on my wall at home that I cannot wait to fit in to!!! So motivational to look at them everyday and be inspired!

You better hold them to that shopping spree hahaha

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
