Sometimes I wish I'd never heard of this sugery

Recommended Posts

I wish I had never known that so many physical problems were caused by my weight and not aging. I was happy not remembering being able to cross my legs, thinking I had bad feet and that's why I couldn't wear high heels.

And now the genie is out of the box. For the first time in over a decade I had actual hope I could get to a normal weight and stay there. I looked forward to wearing nice clothes and having more energy.

And I have spent the last month trying to get weight watchers to send me a record of my meetings and they just will NOT do it. I don't know if it's a ploy to keep people from getting WLS and trying to get them back or what.

I have called FIVE times and asked to get my record and each person tells me the person before did it wrong, and they will help. Then I wait for the email that never comes, or I get an email telling me they can't provide it without a cancelled check. I want to scream.

I am usually a fighter but I feel like I don't know what to do. I just put something on their twitter feed and I'm thinking about getting a lawyer. This is unbelievable.

And I told my counselor yesterday. She said that her niece had it and she's a mess and has many complications. She warned me against it. She said when you can only eat a small amount of food everything had to be high quality or you get sick.

Really? So I'm not supposed to have it because her stupid niece doesn't know how to eat right? And probably doesn't take her Vitamins.

I'm just tired of this. I just want to have the sugery and start my new life.

Is there a weight watchers office you can actually go into and ask for a print out? Might have more luck that way. Otherwise maybe try calling up saying you have a complaint and can you speak to the manager there.

A lot of people will tell you their experiences, both good and bad but in the end you have to make the decision for yourself. Just because someone's niece got sick doesn't mean you will. Then again just because someone else did great it doesn't mean you will. If you have done a lot of research I'm sure you can make an educated decision by weighing up the pros and cons. Good luck x

I did go to the WW office and they said because I was registered for at work meetings they have no record of me. she told me to call the 800 number again which I did.

My insurance told me three times all I need is a five year weight history and then denied saying I need a six month supervised diet. I thought I was going to lose it. I have never wanted something so badly.

I am also considering Mexico but it really scares me to be there alone.

Many places make you go to a six month supervised diet and most places do not consider Weight Watchers one of them. I've been through many supervised diets and still had to start over and when they mean six months supervised, that means if you miss a month, you need to start all over. Many places make you go through an entire program.

I had to do it as did many others. If you want your insurance company to pay, find one and start over or maybe consider going to Mexico and paying cash for it!

Best of luck.

I had to go through a 3 month supervised diet program which included seeing the surgeon and the nutritionist each month for 3 months. You can also go through your regular doctor, but the surgeon's office knows exactly what is required for the insurance, so if you can do that, it's easier. There are a lot of requirements - like you have to see the nutritionist and the doctor in the same calendar month for it to count. So it just made more sense to me to go to the surgeon and their program. I know it seems like a long time, but it goes by fast. During that time, I focused on healthy behaviors and I started seeing a counselor to get a jump start on my emotional eating. You may want to get started on the 6 month program while still trying to sort things out with WW. Hang in there :)

Hi, I am almost 3 mo out from VSG...I love this lifestyle. I have lost 43 lbs since surgery, prob more, havent stepped on the scale yet for this week. Just remember, you still have to eat right and exercise...this is no magic solution. I did hours and weeks of research, I knew exactly what I was getting into. I had all my Protein, food ready to go. It is a lifestyle....not magic.

Good luck

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
