I'd place it firmly in the "acceptable" category.

Disclaimer: not for the lactose intolerant.

So which one do you think is best. The salesman tried to get me to buy Promasil. I was skeptical cause I would like to taste it first. It was zero carbs and 20G Protein but it was like $60.00. Way to much if I don't like it

What I like to do for my shakes is mix 1 scoop of vanilla Protein Powder, 1 low carb yogurt (I use the carb master from Kroger), and coconut milk. I mix this up in a blender ball cup and take it with me...it is so quick and easy.

Just curious...you know a lot and give good advice. I'm 11 weeks post-op and sick of my Protein drinks. Is it okay to eat met-rx Protein plus bars? The one I've been eating (creamy Peanut Butter crisp) has 310 calories' date=' 30 grams of protein and 3 grams of sugar[/quote']

Really, Protein Bars are best if used as a last resort. They are pretty high calorie & tend to have lots of carbs too. In essence a candy bar with protein.

The protein matrix in these bars is a good one though.

I'd say if they were limited to a couple times a week, or if you were exercising heavily then they're ok. But for most of us, they just don't add up.

Where did you find it? I too have been experimenting with different flavored and can only stand the chocolate whey Protein by Body Fortress (Wal Mart). The EAS powder vanilla flavor was disgusting. I have yet to order the unjury. I think I will do that today.

Hey sweet tea let me know how the Unjury taste. I have been contemplating whether to order that also. I heard the chicken Soup is great but I haven't heard a lot about the Protein shakes.

I'd recommend ordering a sample pack from Unjury. It comes with2 servings of each flavor.

I love their chocolate splendor, & chicken Soup. I was using their unflavored till Cheri(clk) introduced me to Nectar's medical unflavored.

I like the body fortress chocolate Peanut Butter. I tried the GNC brand but it upset my stomach (post op). The chocolate peanut butter tastes better if you blend it with some ice to make it like an ice cream shake. I am having problems tolerating any Protein Shakes post op. pre op I just drank quickly. Can't do that anymore. I did not like the Isopure GNC one that came premixed in the bottle....had a very nasty smell and after taste. I have tried the premier chocolate shakes and those are ok. Good luck to you.

So far I liked Jay Robb, it's on sale at GNC until 2/23(I think) but if you go to the website they have a sample pack they can send you. It's about $14

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
