My first few weeks were filled with times like that where I would feel completely exhausted. Are you getting in enough Protein right now?

Try teas, too. Either Decaf green/black/white or herbal teas are great. I drank nothing *but* Water before surgery and now I can't stand it any more, but I love tea.

I also found 2 things that helped with liquids and Protein at first. Isopure, which is like Gatorade in glass bottles, got it at Vitamin Shop and GNC. Low calorie, no carb and protein! I also order Special K2O Protein Mix from Amazon, like crystal light only with protein, put some in a big glass of Water and sip all day long!

I know a lot of people say Decaf on here but my surgeon said caffeine was fine so I have never used decaf, but as with most things every surgeon is different, so should probably check with yours to be sure. Also, I have found the MIO flavorings are pretty decent for Water. I know that early on when I had problems with energy is was more related to Protein, make sure your getting enough protein, my Dr recommended a minimum of 60 grams per day.

You are less than two weeks out and are probably still on full liquids. Don't forget you've had major surgery and your body has gone through a trauma. Add on top of that that you are probably eating 1/6 the amount of calories per day that you were pre op. you're going to be tired.

I'm 10 weeks and there are still days where I need to take a nap in the afternoon. And it's not like 'oh I'm a bit tired, I'll nap for a few minutes' its 'oh, I'm tired as all hell, I'm going to go to bed for a couple (3 or 4) hours'!

Try to get in as much Water and Protein as you can. Water doesn't have to be plain water. Go for teas, Vitamin waters, diluted juice. Anything you can get down. I drank hot tea for a few weeks because it just went down easier than anything else.

Give your body time to heal and adjust and in a few weeks you'll be feeling fine. Also exercising can help.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
