Looking for suggestions 3 months out

Recommended Posts

I would like to know what people are eating three months out. I don;t think I am getting enough Protein and know I need to drink more Water, however I don;t feel thirsty and have to force myself. Does anyone else have this problem. I aim for 60 grams protein a day, but some days only get 45-50. Are there any good unflavored protein powders I can mix in Soups? Love Soup for lunch but not much protein, also love Cereal for Breakfast (don't want to eat eggs everyday). I found the only cereal with a fair amount of protein is Special K high protein. Please help.

The best unflavored Protein Powder is called Unjury. I order it on-line, their chicken flavor is wonderful too. Good luck

There are going to be some who disagree with me on this but I quit worrying about it. I do eat foods geared towards Protein - shrimp (often), kashi go lean, carb control tortillas (for pizza - often with chicken). I never found a decent Protein Powder and my surgeon recommends not using them after 4 weeks because he wants it to come from food source anyway. In the morning I either eat kashi go lean, eggs, protein pancakes (check our eggface recipes - she's amazing), and sometimes I drink smoothies (2% plain chobani greek yogurt, 1 cup of baby spinach, natural puree juice, frozen fruit chunks like mangoes, blueberries, cherries, and a dash of sugar free vanilla Torani syrup). Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestions. Where do you buy the Torani flavored Syrup? I have not seen yet, but many people are using it. Would love to try it in plain Greek yogurt? Also, what are good Snacks that will satisfy, if you want something sweet?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
