Must be a Monday thing! I was sleeved on the 18th and I have Fluid on my lungs due to the anesthesia. Tonight it feels like someone is stabbing me in the chest on my left side when I breathe, and when I laid down to sleep around 9:00, I felt like I was suffocating. I totally panicked. Waiting to hear back from my surgeon and hoping it's not progressed to a partially collapsed lung!

Did the doc or nurses give you spirometer to do breathing exercises? It's very important to do them about 10 times an hour to keep your lungs from getting groggy after going under. I hated doing them bc I felt like a brick was on my chedt but it really did help.

Anyone sleeved 2-19 still in a lot of pain

That would be me. Not much on gas pains but right side incision burns bad. I have to use a stomach binder and that helps but still feel that horrible burning. When I take off the binder, I almost want to pass out and throw up from the pain.

Susie, I was revisioned band to sleeve on the 14th. I too was in a lot of pain the first 4 days but then it became quite manageable. Walking helps tremendously. Wishing you a speedy recovery. :)

Is the binder something the hospital gave you, or something you chose to use? I know I've needed support for my stomach and I've gotten buy with just a small pillow...are your incisions puffy, red, or discharging at all? If it continues, I would contact your doc!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
