Did you hear back from the surgeon then? Maybe you need to go to er?

No, I haven't heard from him yet. I have already talked to him once about this because I was worried that with the fever I had a leak, and that's when he told me about the liquid on the lungs from anesthesia, but the next day it was FAR worse. However, today was better even though I am still having some trouble breathing. If I start to spike a fever again and feel like I can't breathe at all, then I will probably go to the er.

Surgery on Monday...getting nervous. Very scared. Any input on what to take with me??

Assuming you will be in the hospital for one day: Bring Shampoo and a brush///hairdryer if needed. Heavy duty socks (they will provide) as you will be instructed to

walk every two hours. A positive attitude and willingness to follow all of the doctors and nurses orders.

I was sleeved yesterday and am home today. Dr. Feiz performed the surgey at Marina Del Rey hospital. Need;ess to say' date='

I am sore as hell, but walking helps rid the body of the air they use during the procedure.. Ironically, I weighed a pound more when I was dscharged than upon my arrival. The nurse conveyed that is perfectly normal, due to the amountof liquids they pump into you. See all of you in the post-op forums! Best of luck to all.[/quote']

Wow. That was fast. Best of luck on a speedy recovery.

Hi All - scheduled for surgery on Feb 25th. So nervous' date=' it doesn't help that that the tech that drew up my labs for surgery this morning asked me why I would be getting a sleeve. That I was not "that fat" and he thought I was beautiful as is. Well I burst into tears the minute I walked out of the hospital.. I am scared I am not doing the right thing, maybe I haven't tried hard enough. But the truth is I have been battling obeisty since I was little. I have "bigger" bones so I do "hide" my weight well. I have three young kids am I being selfish doing this?? I am 5'6 250; no comorbidities but have struggled with my weight all my life. My nurse friends now have me freaked out about the risks so my head is not in a good place 48 hours before surgery. Help - I need a pep talk![/quote']

I am in the same boat. I'm 5"6 and weigh 205lbs. I come from a larger family and have battled with my weight all my life. This is a very personal choice that I am doing for myself. My surgery date is 2/28/13 and am waiting for someone to tell me the same thing. Don't feel that you need to explain yourself to anyone. I know in the end my knees, back and heart will thank me and I am sure yours will too.

As a nurse myself , I understand the risks that come with this surgery but honestly we take risk everyday just getting out of bed. Im sure your friends are just concerned for you but only you know what's best for you and your family. I wish you the best!!

has anyone bought any good blenders like the bullet or the ninja? want to buy one' date=' but just wanted to get some reviews first![/quote']

I have them both, the bullet is good for Protein , the ninja will purée anything you put in it. They both are great products. I like the bullet for my Protein because you are mix it and take it Togo in the same container. It's great!!

I got the Isopure at Meijer, in the pharmacy/vitamin section. Do you have a Meijer where you live? The GNC in our mall had the large glass bottles of Isopure in Apple Melon for $5 each. Ouch!

That's 5 bucks each. I don't know why the dollar sign didn't show up.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
