himalaya62 221 Posted February 8, 2013 Did anyone have a catheter? I really, really don't want one of those. After my c-section, I had one in for almost 2 days. Just thinking about it is like nails on a chalkboard.

Jenna 1 Posted February 8, 2013 I had my two hour post operative training last night where we went over the diet, shopping guide and what's going happen at surgery. Didn't realize how severe the food restrictions are. For the first two weeks there is no foods that are allowed to be chewed And I had no idea that you cannot have steak or pork for up to three months after your surgery. They gave me a list of of things that I should buy a GMC regarding my Liquid Protein intake and they also gave me a list of supplements that I'll need to take for the rest of my life but there is one of my hospital offers that I can say that's cheaper and equivalency to seven other types. Has anyone else received this information for going through that's also? My dr here in Dallas is Clear Liquids three days before and after surgery. Then it's full liquids (applesauce, yogurt, oatmeal (kinda runny) cream of wheat, creamed soups) anything that does't need to be chewed (this is for 5 weeks) I have done everything to get to this point whats a couple more weeks, I can do it.. I know you can... I chewed a piece of gum, or my chewable Calcium and Vitamins, so I feel like I am chewing something.. Just don't swallow the gum, that wouldn't be good at all.. They placed it in the OR and I had no issues when it was removed. I was worried about having a UTI from it but it all worked out fine.
Jessica82 38 Posted February 8, 2013 I'm on day 4 of pre ope diet. 3 Protein Shakes, 1 Protein Bar and 1 broth, plus 1 sugar free Jello a day. Days 1-3 weren't bad, but today is horrible. I'm an emotional wreck....not actually hungry so I know its a head game, but oh so frustrating.

FatMamaw 7 Posted February 9, 2013 I still don't have an exact date for surgery. Yesterday I went for the pulmonary fuction test' date=' got approval. Next week I go to GP, I wanted all my other approvals 1st, don't think I will have a problem getting her approval. I the required blood work this morning. My doc checks for everything under the sun. I think they took 3 vials, I don't look but felt her changing tubes. Once I see GP everything is done except the required last nutruitional class and pre-op class, I tried to do the pre-op class this month with a friend, but they said medicare requires it be last and the classes have to be stretched out over 3 months. My pre-op diet is low fat now, 2 weeks before the actual surgery date very strict low fat, the shakes are optional, but I do want to try a few so I know what I like. I bought one bottle of Isopure, fruit punch, the GNC guy said it wasn't bad, I ordered an Unjury sample pack, and got another Protein at GNC, can't remember the name. I'll post what I like after I taste them. Anyone else have a favorite yet? My friend went to the pre-op class and we get progressed to full liquids pretty quick so I am not going to worry as much about having to use the clear protein, unless I put it in food. For those who don't know too, the Unjury sample pack comes with a food thermometer and a shaker. You can add it to food, but it clumps if food is to hot, so having the thermometer will be nice. I think with shipping, it was around 28 dollars.[/quote'] I'm having my sleeve the 18th and I'm starving, I drank a dietcoke today. I had give them up last week, I was drinking 6 to 8 a day. So we have to drink clear protein the first 2 weeks? I was going to have broths and Jello. Is the unjury good? You can drink it warm? Do you flavor it? And with what? I'm going to bring a binder with me to hospital I hear they really help. On my preop I can have 2 Protein Drinks an 2 sugar free jello or Popsicles. It kinda sucks that they don't have many who knows how to stick that tube down your throat without damaging you. Hope u are doing well at this time Elaine

My preop is 2 shakes and a small meal ...they suggest a lean cuisine and a salad. They have a small list of things to eat for a snack if you get too hungry. All raw low startch veggies are free and could have some Greek yogurt or low fat cheese
