Start my pre-op diet tomorrow. Surgery on the 20th. So ready to get the journey started!

Tomorrow makes day 3 for me and it hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be so far...I am a total drama queen and I expected I would have broken down and cried like a baby by now, but I'm doing ok! I did tear up this morning because I work at a hotel and they had bacon at Breakfast and they were all raving about it and it made me so sad and frustrated...but I reminded myself that I am doing this for a reason! It's frustrating to have food all around you and not be able to eat any of it, but I know you can do it! Trust me, if I can, anyone can!!! I feel like I'm finally learning self control, and in all honesty it feels really good to be proud of myself for saying no to things I shouldn't eat! Best of luck!!!

Tomorrow makes day 3 for me so I'm hardly an expert' date=' but I have found that since I am doing 3 Meal Replacement Protein Shakes a day and then can have all the Clear Liquids I want including Water, low sodium broth, sugar free Jello & popsicles, and the drink mixes that you add yo your water ( like Wyler's under 5 calories), that the later I wait in the morning to eat the fuller I am for the rest of the day. If I eat ( and I use the term very loosely) my first shake around 6 or 7 then I find myself absolutely ravenous by 9 or so and sometimes I get to the point when my stomach starts to toss and turn and it makes me sick because it is empty! I have found that if I just drink water or unsweet tea until about 9 or 10 and then have my first shake, I stay fuller longer and make it until about 3 or so until I have the 2nd shake...in between if I start to feel a little empty I will eat a cup of jello or something like that...I know everyone's body is different, but that is what is working for me! Hope you find something that will work for you!!![/quote']

I'm on almost exact diet but I get 5 c of milk and 5 packages of carnation a day instead of the Protein shakes. I'm on day 7 and I'm starving today lol. I made s/f jello jigglers those help as I pick them up and eat them and I trick myself that I'm eating (:

And stay off PINTEREST! bad idea on liquids! Ha

Water!!! Water!!! I started pre-op diet yesterday and that has helped me curb the hunger. I think tomorrow will either be my worst day and then I will be over the hump. I had headaches and a little nauseous and light headed but the Water helped me push through. Yeah I had to go pee alot but as my friend said you are detoxing from all the crap you use to eat. Good luck!!! My surgery is on the 18th.

Mine is the 18th too. I meet my surgeon on the 8th and he will tell me when to start the preop diet

I'm set up for February 4th. Seems like forever away. People keep telling me' date=' "oh don't worry". It bugs me cause I'm not worried. What seems to keep popping in my head is, am I doing the right thing.

I would like to here what others are thinking, going through.

My Doctors plan is two days preop clear liquid, not 10 like I've been reading on here. Anyone else similar?

Thanks,

Kimo[/quote']

How are all you Feb 4 people doing?!?!

Hanging in there! It's about what I expected. I'm still in the hospital and you can never get sleep in this place. Here it is almost 2:00 am and I'm on my smart phone. I'm a little sore and itchy. Can't really take in any fluids yet but I'm trying.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
