Count me in! Anyone have suggestions for surviving a week in Las Vegas for a work conference while I'm on purees/softs?? I'm really wondering what I'm going to eat given that virtually all of my meals are arranged by my company. Maybe I'll just have a really, really good loss this week. :)

Bring Protein Powder and a shaker cup. If you don't get enough Protein at meals (can be hard if they don't have the right foods), have a Protein Shake before bed. I liked the GNC Gold Standard whey Protein powder in French vanilla Creme mixed with a Starbucks Via Decaf Italian Roast packet and 1 cup Water. Easy to travel with the ingredients. I also liked the Unjury chicken protein because it mixes with just warm water.

Order ala cart instead of meal if you are ordering your food. For example, just scrambled egg for Breakfast. Order Soup and just eat the parts you can. Ask for apple sauce.(Apple sauce cups are a good snack to pack too because they are shelf-stable.)

Have fun and win big for me!

Lynda

I think we need positive views and suggestions, not negative. Many of us have been going through a lot of pain before as well as after our surgery and we want to read about the positive views from others. Or at least I do... :) I love hearing the success stories, not the name calling and whatever else nasty you have to say about others. We all want to be able to express our views without wondering who is going to make fun of us if we do, and there are some topics here that are hard to discuss or are for me...lol I wish all of you the best success on your surgery and anything you wish to try in your life. I know I've been given a second chance to change many things of my life and I am going to do it.. once I'm able. I do hope I can find others in my area that are looking for people to exercise with as I think that would be easier for me as well.

It's all good... :)

Awwww that is so cute!!

And to the topic being able to post without being harassed yes we should be able to. I realized today I usually joke, help, or keep things light hearted when I'm here .... But sometimes I wish I could reach out for help and I haven't because....

You're right! The summers here make up for the dreary rain. It rarely gets to hot to enjoy the summer days in the sun and everything is always healthy and green. Definitely have the four seasons here..

Thank you to whoever posted the link to this thread for me. I haven't gotten to read every post on the 8 pages, but I am loving what I've read. I too wish this could be turned into a forum. You all sound like my kind of people. It's like the VST version of Planet fitness...The Judgement Free Zone! I love it! I am not looking to be babied, but I am looking forward to sharing without worry of being bullied. Viva La awesome thread here!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
