Recommended Posts

Sounds like this is a joke or OP has issues with alcohol.

Yeah I have issues with alcohol because I had a couple sips of a drink ... That's a joke also

I think it was on here I read it at . I'm not sure . I was wondering the same thing . Because I do like to drink every now and then for get togethers. I think I'm not sure it can tear your stomache . I'm not 100% sure . I'm just curious to know the answer and what could you have later on ?

Yeah be careful what you ask !!! They'll chop your head off !! Guess you. Ant be honest on this forum

My doc cleared me for 3 weeks . Guess it just depends on your surgeon. There are so many different answers that's why I asked in the first place . And before I asked I did research on the topic . Got many different answers also

If you can't abstain from alcohol long enough to let yourself lose weight and heal, then how will you control yourself when it comes to food? Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should. Your surgeon must be losing marbles, because I don't know what surgeon in their right mind would approve alcohol consumption LESS than a MONTH out. It seems as if you weren't and still aren't in the right mindset for this journey. If you didn't want people coming at you like you have, then you shouldn't of posted something that sounds so incredibly ignorant. To come on here and boldly say that you're less than a month out and enjoying alcohol is bound to attract negative comments.

So for all of you with this "Alcohol causes leaks and liver damage' date=' and ulcers, Just got back from the dr.s for my 2 week check up . I asked him about every single concern and risks that people were saying. He said it is no different than how alcohol affects a regular liver. And started laughing when i was concerned that it would cause a leak!!! I dont know where these people get this info from. I have googled this topic, researched and came up with exactly what my doc told me. High calorie intake, and more affects of the alcohol due to ur low tolerance. My doc is one of the top leading surgeons in the Orange County area and i take his advice over anyones in this forum. Sorry to burst your bubbles. he gave clearance of 3 weeks !! So all that crap talk about leaks and things is NONSENSE from alcohol!!!!!!!! THANK YOU DOC!!!!![/quote']

You have your answers you had them when u started this thread so good luck to you

How can people like you be so quick to judge . I guess next time I won't be so truthful. I think I'm doing excellent with my weight loss. I go to the gym 4 times week , getting all Protein and liquids , and lost 25 pounds in 17 days . And. My surgeon is one of the top leading surgeons in Orange County . So yes if you want to judge because I took some sips of alcohol that's your problem not mine.

I doubt people would be 'so quick to judge' if you hadn't come off so rude in most of your posts. That's obviously going to cause some backlash. Plus a lot of people are so thankful for their sleeve and the new life it's given them and take it very seriously, so when a rule that some doctors have been adamant about sticking to is broken it can be a big deal. Most of these people were just trying to warn you of the harm you could be doing to your body.

Well to comment to Sarah - the lush - if u were so concerned u should of went straight to the doctor and stop looking for attention on these blogs - it's sad that we all tried to give u advice from our concern and what could of been told us and u laugh at us - I don't think this is a forum for you bc u have been so negative and snotty to everyone who gave u advice - so listen to ur doctor and bottoms up - and stop being such an a*****e to people that r trying to help

I didn't mean to come off rude but some people were calling me a b***h and other names , guess I went into defense mode. And there are so many different boundaries of when not to drink alcohol . Some surgeons say 3 weeks 1 month 3 months just thought I would put it out there . Guess shouldn't be so truthful next time . But I do apologize if did come across rude to any of the people here. . I really do like these threads they have been really helpful!

My nutritionist said that drinking puts added stress on the liver which is already under stress from the rapid wait loss.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
